//This is part of the Blink Camera colective. I’ve always wanted to make a large scale environment inside of Aftereffects. Each element in this video was made purely all inside of Aftereffects, no photoshop or illustrator, all made using masked out solids. The reason I chose to work like that and not make them in Illustrator is because while editing, if i decided this mountain range needed it to be darker and more blue, rather than having to find and open the Illustrator file, adjust changes, saving, then reloading onto Aftereffects, I can just go to the composition it was made, add a hue/saturation effect onto it, and adjust the darkness and color, and the changes are instantaneous. If a certain comp ever got too heavy, I can always just render it out as a still image and reimport it.
//Perhaps I will create a making of this video or tutorial. A lot of people were wondering how I created this. Enjoy!!
Hello, haven’t updated in a while. No I haven’t died or anything, just been really busy at school and I normally don’t like uploading things if I feel it is too much a work in progress, but I feel that I should do so from now on, even if it is to document.
//The assignment was to create a 3D hand to use in an Addidas commercial. This is my AO pass for my initial model.
Friend introduced me to the amazing work of artist Marina Bychkova. Her handmade award winning dolls are some of the most beautiful figurines I have ever seen. Everything from the figure’s expression to the ornate costumes. Normally, I hate dolls or things with eyes because of an early childhood encounter with Chucky, but just this once I’m willing to let that go. The one depicted below is called Cinderella, and is probably my favorite one. I love how even though the face doesn’t change, there is a certain depth in the gaze that signifies numerous expressions and emotions, and you can just stare at it for hours. Make sure to visit the website at http://www.enchanteddoll.com/. Don’t forget to visit the Flickr gallery for more hi-res quality pictures. On a side note, I’m going to start uploading cool things I find that inspire me in my Fun Finds section more often.
Assignment was to pick a random word and product type and create a very short end tag for it. Word was “Blink” and the product was a “Camera”. Target group for product would be the younger crowd; fun, contemporary, and spontaneous. Hence I made the final camera and logo be reminiscent of the Facebook logo in a way. WIP cuz don’t have any audio for it yet. It’s part of a larger project, and the next assignment is to create a 15 second commercial for the product. Anyone have any audio ideas? Also, remember to watch it in HD only at VIMEO.
\\ Creating a title sequence of the recently premiered show, My Generation. The show is done in a mockumentary style in which 9 graduating highschoolers were followed, filmed, and interviewed in the year 2000. Now, ten years later, the cameras are back to catch up on the same 9 people and see what has changed in their lives over the past decade.
\\ In brainstorming ideas for this, my first thought was to animate a yearbook, but it seemed too obvious and cliche. Eventually I envisioned a board game that would represent life and all the struggles, excitement, risks, fun, and pitfalls of a game. How life is just another game we all must play, where every action affects the end results, and how the players are bound by both choice and chance.
